2004 Victor J. Contrucci Outstanding Service Award Winner
From the start, Vic always was a passionate advocate for fair, equitable, and effective services for children and their families. It is in this tradition that the Wisconsin Council on Developmental Disabilities is proud to present the twelfth annual Victor J. Contrucci Outstanding Service Award for 2004 to:
Shirley Rozek
Shirley Rozek has dedicated the better part of last 25 years providing youth with disabilities the foundation they need not only to succeed in the world of work, but in their community as productive, well-adjusted, and involved citizens. Shirley’s efforts have a significant impact on the students, colleagues, and business contacts that she works with. Shirley is someone who people admire and aspire to be. She is a great role model for the students she serves. Her detailed, positive and persistent interventions with youth help them to develop critical skills and attitudes that lead to their success.
For nearly 20 years Shirley Rozeck has been an Instructional Technician and a member of the EEN staff at West High School in West Bend, Wisconsin. As a job coach for a program entitled WORKS– Working to develop Ownership, Responsibility, Knowledge, and Skills, she has the delicate task of balancing high expectations with understanding of students needs. Shirley’s unwavering professionalism and care fosters growth, success, and independence for the students she supports.
Many see Shirley as an ambassador of good will and integrity, demonstrating in-depth and intuitive skills when it comes to utilizing strategies to develop the work skills of students. Her dedication, professionalism, and compassion have earned her great respect in her community and of the people she has served.
